During his interview with Golf Advisor about the new Pfau Golf Course at Indiana University, Architect Steve Smyers not only talks about the Pfau course, but describes how he was involved with the creation of The Links at Heartland Crossing and how he has seen a distinctive change in the quality of the course now that it has been under new ownership for the last year and a half.
As a tribute to an era when golfers did battle on dunes along the ocean, The Links at Heartland Crossing presents a delightfully unique view of how the game should be played. With a natural rolling beauty to charm the eye, the course embraces golfers of every level.
Every great golf course shares a common ingredient – FEEL. “You feel a truly great golf course. It moves you to alternating heights and depressions. Excites you. Thrills you. “And in the end, The Links at Heartland Crossing will have challenged the best in you.” Words described by architect Steve Smyers and professional golf Nick Price. The collaboration of Price and Smyers produced a masterpiece of winding fairways, rolling terrain and picturesque ponds and lakes.
Yet the single feature to stand out in most golfers’ minds will be the bunkers. Large, dramatically shaped bunkers. Helping define fairways. And helping protect the greens. Almost entirely unencumbered by houses along fairways, golfers will know that The Links at Heartland Crossing exists for golfers.
Located 10 minutes from the Indianapolis International Airport and 15-20 minutes from Circle Center downtown, the Links at Heartland Crossing is close enough to be convenient, yet distant enough to remain serene.
